Local History Services supports historical societies, museums, libraries, archives, genealogical societies, and other history organizations throughout Utah. We provide guidance, resources, and professional development to help organizations expand their impact, build capacity, and engage their communities in preserving and sharing Utah history. Utah Collections Preservation

Provides preservation training to humanities collections stewards statewide through workshops and webinars.


AASLH Resource Center

A resource hub curated by the American Association for State and Local History, featuring: STEPS, America 250 resources, and various toolkits. 


Utah Humanities Center for Community Heritage

Improve your community with the following programs: Beehive Archive, Heritage Workshops, and the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition.

Based on the American Association for State & Local History’s (AASLH) Standards and Excellence Program for History Organizations (StEPs), StEPs-UT offers seven small Utah museums and local history organizations a two-year enrichment opportunity designed to help them achieve success in six areas of institutional practice.
