Celebrate Utah History Month in January 2023!

Join us in January to celebrate Utah History Month. We created Utah History Month in 2019 to raise awareness of Utah’s incredible history and to help amplify history work that is happening across our state.

As the Utah Division of State History evolves and looks ahead to a new future, we hope to pull back the curtain on our agency a little more during this month, showcasing our collections and resources, and sharing more about what is on the horizon for us in 2023 and beyond.

Our January efforts are three-pronged this year:

1

Sharing Historical Society content

2

Resharing external partners’ content (YOU!)

3

Sharing the value of history work

JOIN IN THE CONVERSATION

Feel free to use the Utah History Month toolkit, which includes a template for a social media square frame and a FAQ sheet with more in-depth information on what we anticipate sharing in the future as an example for you to model off of or work with. Use #UtahHistoryMonth on all your social media channels to ensure we and other participants see how you’re celebrating the month and acknowledging the power and impact of history.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

  • Share our kickoff post for Statehood Day on January 4
  • Post about a person or event that was influential in shaping your organization and the work that you do
  • Post about your favorite museum or historical spot in Utah
  • Post a fun picture from Utah history

Utah History Month officially launches on January 4th, 2023 in honor of Statehood Day and will close with the official re-opening of our newly rebranded Engagement Room at the Collections Center in Midvale. We will be sharing more information throughout the month on activities planned. We are so thrilled to see how you celebrate Utah History Month in January 2023!
