Museum Self-Guided Exploration

Discover Utah's history as you embark on a self-guided field trip through our museum. Students will engage in self-discovery while exploring four immersive galleries, a rotating exhibit, a theater, and more. Allow your students to discover the intriguing world around them by exploring the museum at your own convenience.

  • Educator and chaperone resources will be available to support student learning and engagement in the museum
  • Self-guided field trips can last up to two hours within the museum but are not required to utilize the entire time

Museum Guided Exploration

Enhance student learning with our guided field trips, offering a unique blend of structured curriculum-based classroom activities and self-guided museum exploration. Immerse students in Utah history through four interactive galleries, a dynamic rotating exhibit space, a theater, and more. This program goes beyond a typical field trip by providing a guided classroom experience that complements and expands on the visit and student learning opportunities.

  • Museum educators will facilitate a hands-on classroom activity
  • Educator and chaperone resources will be available to support student learning and engagement in the museum

PARTNER FIELD TRIP

Enhance your field trip with our unique partner option, offering a guided or self-guided tour of the Utah State Capitol and a guided or self-guided exploration experience of the Museum of Utah. Both institutions are conveniently located on the Capitol Complex, just steps away from each other. This combined experience provides students with a comprehensive and engaging visit. Educators can select either a full four-hour program or a shorter three-hour option.

  • A tour of the Utah State Capitol will be provided by a tour guide or your group can schedule a self-guided tour.
  •  Teachers will have the choice of a guided or self-guided Museum of Utah experience upon booking
    • Please note that groups wishing to participate in a guided Museum of Utah experience must choose the 4 hour program option 
    • Educator and chaperone resources will be available to support student learning and engagement at the Museum
