Utah's History is Your History

RESEARCH CENTER

The Utah Division of State History/Utah State Historical Society will temporarily shut down its reference services for the Library and Collections section on April 30th. This is to facilitate the move to a new, temporary location. At the same time, the Rio Grande Depot in Salt Lake City will be seismically retrofitted due to damage caused by the earthquake of March 2020.  Requests for research assistance and image orders will be delayed significantly beyond the standard two-week response time. Patrons are welcome to continue to submit requests, which will be processed when the temporary shutdown is finished in Summer 2022.  A new notice will then be posted.

Utah government records are accessible through the Utah State Archives, located at 346 S Rio Grande Street. To contact State Archives for information requests or for in-person research appointments, email historyresearch@utah.gov. Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to resuming our reference services in the near future.
