As Utah’s first state history museum, the Museum of Utah celebrates our unique history, culture, and art through world class exhibits, programming, and community spaces. The Museum of Utah is an extension of the Utah Historical Society, fostering curiosity about the past, informing the present, and strengthening our shared future. Housed inside the new North Capitol Building, the Museum of Utah serves as a gateway to the Capitol Complex, engaging visitors as they explore Utah’s past and consider their place in shaping Utah’s future.

PERMANENT GALLERIES
Temporary Gallery
Summer 2026 to Spring 2027 — “The Past is Personal”: This exhibit urges visitors to consider their role in our nation's history as we mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Explore concepts of commemoration and community through the lenses of remembering and perspective, and make connections to both the past, and the people around you. Drawing upon the Utah Historical Society's semiquincentennial project, the Peoples of Utah Revisited, this exhibit broadens the lens on Utah's history and shares the stories of the past through the present.
While our galleries will not open to the public until June 27, our Museum Store and Guest Experience desk are open. The Museum Store features a carefully curated collection of artisan goods, books, and other gifts for every age – inspired by exhibit content, Utah’s landscapes and history.
