Utah State History Conference Tour: South Temple Street: 170 Years of Change

September 28, 2019 @ 4:00 am - 6:00 am

South Temple Street is arguably the architecturally most significant street in Utah because it offers architectural styles from almost every period of Utah history. On this tour, we’ll examine those styles by looking at various “case studies.” We’ll discuss why styles changed and what each one tells us about its respective historical period. As we assess the individual buildings, we’ll also zoom out to a longer view of the street’s history to discuss why and how places change.

The tour will begin at the Wall Mansion, located at 411 East South Temple Street.

Please Note: The tour will cover about one mile with some uphill walking and a fair amount of standing time. Bring good walking shoes and water.

How to participate:

Space is limited!  The tour is limited to 20 people.  RSVP is required to Alycia Rowley at aaldrich@utah.gov or 801-245-7226.
