Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant (UORG) Workshop – Heber

The Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation (OOR) offers unique grant opportunities to local governments and nonprofits, including the Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant (UORG) and two new opportunities: the Recreation Restoration Infrastructure Grant (RRI) and the Utah Children’s Outdoor Recreation and Education Grant (UCORE).
At this workshop, the OOR team will walk you through the process step-by-step, helping you create a compelling project submission. In addition, partnering organizations will join us to present other grant opportunities available to communities, including Utah State Parks, which administers the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant, and a representative from the National Park Services’ River Trails and Conservation Assistance program (RTCA). RTCA oversees a grant to help get outdoor recreation plans off the ground. Don’t miss this opportunity!

Overview of OOR Grants
- The Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant provides matching grant funding to build outdoor recreation infrastructure such as trails, boat ramps and more. In the 2019 grant cycle, award amounts ranged from $5.000 to $150,000. This competitive grant is a unique funding opportunity for Utah communities.
- The Recreation Restoration Infrastructure grant (RRI) helps fund the backlog of maintenance on public lands. Funds received through the grant can be used for the rehabilitation or restoration of developed recreation areas and trails so they can be safely accessed by the public.
- The Utah Children’s Outdoor Recreation and Education grant program (UCORE) helps fund programming that provides Utah’s children with outdoor recreation skill building and nature-focused hands-on learning that contributes to active lifestyles. Programs may focus on teaching outdoor recreation sports or physical skills, especially those connected to the Every Kid Outdoors (EKO) Initiative. Programs may also focus on hands-on learning of a STEM field in an outdoor environment.
