For Home and Country: Posters and Propaganda from the Great War

September 22, 2018 @ 4:00 am - January 12, 2019 @ 11:00 am

Free

Commemorating the Centennial of the Armistice, this exhibition offers an in-depth look at the BYU Museum of Art’s stellar collection of World War I posters. These bold, dramatic, and engaging posters are among the finest ever produced and have been praised for their dynamic designs and beauty. At the same time, they played a central role in the most sophisticated propaganda effort the world had ever seen. By presenting the finest and most iconic American examples, along with newly acquired international posters created by nations that America fought with and against, this unique exhibition provides a historical and cultural context for appreciating the aesthetic excellence and political complexities of the posters that rallied the nations of the world.
