Bloomington Rock and Other Nearby Sites
Starting at Noon (2-3 hours)
Meet at Walmart in Bloomington (on Pioneer Rd). Park near USA gas station

Led by Gary Smith and Mary Manning

The November field trip will include three sites in the St. George area. The highlight of the trip will be a visit to Bloomington Rock. Mary Manning is going to show us all the special glyphs she has discovered on the rock.

Meet at noon in the parking lot of the Bloomington Walmart and park near the USA Gasoline Station. The first place we will go to is Indian Hills Road. We will see petroglyphs and possibly a habitation site. This will include moderate/hard uphill hiking and rock scrambling. If there is any wet weather we will cancel this part of the trip.
The second part of the trip will be to the Tonaquint area. This is a small but unusual solstice site. The walk into it is, at most, 200 yards in and is a gentle downhill hike and then a gentle uphill back to the cars. This an easy/moderate hike.
Next we will go to Bloomington Rock. There are some very hard to see petroglyphs that do not become visible until 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., which is the reason we are starting our field trip later than usual. We can park on the road next to the rock, so it is very easy to get to. Mary will show some photos at the November13th meeting to give us an idea what to expect.

You may sign up at the meeting or preregister by sending name and phone to spencercarola@yahoo.com.
