Join us for our next virtual Perspectives Speaker Series on September 11 at noon. Barbara Jones Brown will speak about the Mountain Meadows Massacre, which took place on September 11, 1857 in southwest Utah.
Almost immediately after the atrocity, both non-Mormons and Latter-day Saints not involved began speculating about the motive behind it. A close examination of events that took place after the massacre debunks prior, speculative motives and provides a new interpretation. Brown is the co-author of Vengeance is Mine: The Mountain Meadows Massacre and Its Aftermath (2023).
