1. Overview
The Utah Historical Society (“UHS”), a division of the State of Utah Department of Cultural & Community Engagement (“CCE”), operates a voluntary mobile emergency alert program (the “Program”). By providing your mobile phone number to receive emergency alerts, you agree to these Alert System Terms & Conditions, the Department Privacy Policy (https://community.utah.gov/privacy-policy/), and the UHS SMS Mobile Privacy Policy (https://history.utah.gov/utah-historical-society-sms-mobile-privacy-policy/).
2. Program Description
The Utah Historical Society (UHS)’s Museum of Utah (MOU), Division of Indian Affairs (DIA), and Division of Arts & Museums (A&M) operate a one-way text message emergency notification system. This system is used strictly to broadcast urgent life-safety warnings, facility alerts, active threat guidance, and emergency notifications to authorized staff working at the North Capitol Building.
3. User Opt-In & Opt-Out
Mobile numbers are collected internally during employee onboarding and account setup for workplace safety alerts. Staff members can opt out of receiving text notifications at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by contacting system administrators. To resubscribe, reply START.
4. Help & Support
For support, information, or help regarding this messaging service, reply HELP to any message or contact system administrators (Museum of Utah Director or Operations Manager)
5. Cost & Frequency
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on emergency events, drills, and administrative testing.
6. Carrier Liability Disclaimer
Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages.
7. Privacy
Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent data will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent records will not be sold, rented, shared, or disclosed to any commercial entities or third parties under any circumstances.
