The Summer 2014 issue represents our latest effort to give Utah Historical Quarterly a fresh, new look. Since its founding in 1928, the quarterly has undergone a number of graphic redesigns, as represented by the following images.
The Summer 1997 issue of UHQ contains a comprehensive history of the quarterly and the Utah State Historical Society.
- Jan. 1931, Vol. 4.
- Jan., Apr., July, Oct. 1943, Vol. 11.
- July 1958, Vol. 26. This cover design ran from Winter 1958, Vol. 26, to Fall 1962, Vol. 30.
- Fall 1962, Vol. 30.
- Winter 1963, Vol. 31. Cover thru Fall 1968, Vol. 36.
- Fall 1964, Vol. 32.
- Winter 1969, Vol. 37. This cover only made one issue of the quarterly.
- Fall 1969, Vol. 37. This was the quarterly’s longest-running cover, from 1969 to Fall 1999, Vol. 67.
- Fall 1970, Vol. 38.
- Summer 1997, Vol. 65.
- Summer 2003, Vol. 71. This slightly altered design was launched in Winter 2000, Vol. 68.
- Fall 2011, Vol. 79. The last issue featuring this design was published Spring 2014, Vol. 82.
