| Abstract: | Photographs were taken by Schmickel who produces an historical newsletter called Dark Frontier. Kemper Hall was original built by Chalres Durkee (a Utah Territorial governor) on the shore of Lake Michigan. Durkee donated his home to the Episcopal Church for the future use of a female seminary in 1865. The Durkee Mansion was later converted into a female school. In 1867, the school changed its name to Kemper Hall, in honor of Jackson Kemper. |
