The "Wild West" has long held a fascination for photographers from all over the world. The collection contains the works of many Utah photographers, as well as others from around the world.
The collection contains mainly Utah subjects. The out-of-state photographers took photographs of Utah subjects (missionaries, tourists, landscapes, street scenes, buildings or life). The photographs document life from the early 1880s to ca 1920.
