The settlement was named for William Hyde, the first presiding Mormon church elder and bishop in the area. The Hyde Park (Utah) family history project collection is an eleven-volume collection of 292 histories written by the residents of Hyde Park, Utah compiled in 1998. They contain personal and family histories, pedigree charts, family group sheets and photographs. They were collected and compiled by the Hyde Park (Utah) Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
