Hanson was born 22 August 1902 in Bountiful, Utah. He married Emma Ford 21 December 1927. He attended LDS High School and graduated from the University of Utah in 1925. He was the chief geologist at Tintic Standard Mining Co. from 1925 to 1948. He assisted in the development of Eureka Lilly, and Eureka Standard Mines. He stated working for the Utah Construction Co. in 1948 as a resident engineer in Cedar City, Utah. He supervised the development and mining operations at Iron Mountain and Iron Springs located in Iron County, Utah. He died 26 May 1981 in Centerville, Utah.
Collection contains biographical materials, correspondence, reports, etc. that Hansen generated for his work as a mining engineer and surveyor.
