The Research Center's research collections and resources:
Books and Pamphlets: 50,000 volumes about the history of Utah and related topics, including county and city histories, city directories, biographies, family histories, and more.
Manuscript Collections: 5,000 collections of primary resources document Utah's families, businesses, and organizations.
Periodicals: More than 1,000 historic and contemporary periodicals on Utah and the West.
Newspapers: Local Utah newspapers from the 1850s to the 1980s, as well as newspapers from other states with subjects pertaining to Utah history and issues.
Newspaper Clippings Files: Newspaper clippings on a variety of Utah subjects, including individuals. The bulk of this collection dates from the 1930s to the present, but it also includes some clippings from as early as the 19th century.
Yearbooks: A collection of school annuals from high schools, colleges, and universities around the state. The dates of these yearbooks range from the late 1800s and early 1900s to the present, but the bulk of the collection covers the 1960s to the present.
Telephone Directories: A collection of directories from various parts of Utah, dating from as early as 1908 to the present. This is a .pdf file.
Architectural drawings: 500 architectural drawings of Utah structures.
Maps: 30,000 historic and contemporary maps of Utah and surrounding states. Included are city, railroad, highway, USGS, and mining maps.
Photograph Collections: 500,000 images depicting more than 100 years of Utah history. These include images of Utah cities, businesses, homes, railroads, mines, and individuals. Researchers may make reproductions of photographs for a charge.
