Carbon and Emery counties coal mining exhibits are housed in an old hotel that was built in 1913. The museum tells the history of coal mining from pick and shovel to longwalls, from steam engines to today's diesel locomotives, and the history of the people who worked in the industry.

Drive through Huntington and Eccles Canyons on a USFS-interpreted auto tour and see active coal mines (Deer Creek and Skyline) which provide fuel for power plants. Active coal mines are industrial sites.
