Placing a marker on a historic building recognizes the significance of a property and helps educate the public. Owners of buildings that are located within National Register Historic Districts or buildings that are individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places may order an official plaque to be placed on the building commemorating it. Markers are available at varying costs in three different sizes:
