How to Add Tools

We are very open to new ideas and hope you will submit any Heritage Tourism tool(s) that will assist others in developing, managing, and protecting their heritage resources. There are two basic types of tools, procedural and exemplary.

Procedural Tools are stand-alone tools which can be used in a variety of communities throughout the nation. They can be used to develop heritage destinations.

Exemplary Tools are projects which have been implemented on the community or site level, and have developed destinations. They have special significance or special ways of presentation. This type of tool might be community-based, multi-community based, a special product or project that develops a unique destination or experience. It may also be a funding source, manpower source, or resource which should be identified.

Prior to submitting a tool you should have the following information:

  • Topic(s) the tool can be listed under
  • Title
  • Description
  • How to Use this Tool
  • Limitations
  • Examples
  • Contacts
