Description
The purpose of this grant program is to further cultural heritage tourism development in Utah. Heritage and cultural tourism is defined as travel directed toward experiencing the heritage and culture of a neighborhood, city, region, state or country. Grants are available to non-profit organizations including: state/national heritage areas, counties, cities, towns, townships, recognized districts, cultural organizations, designated byways and corridors.
How to Use This Tool
Grants will be provided for up to $10,000, depending on the number of applications received and approved. Grants will be selected on a competitive basis by the Cultural Heritage Council (CHC) and approved by the Board of State History. Applications must be received no later than July 31, 2007. The grants will be awarded on September 7, 2007, and will begin when contracts have been executed. Grant recipients will receive 75 percent of the of the total grant award upon receipt of the signed contract and 25 percent of the award upon completion and submittal of measurable outcomes.
Requirements
All grants require a one-to-one local cash match. Matching funds must be directly and demonstrably related to the grant and occur during the grant period.
Cash expenditures may be for any direct purchase, labor or services used in the project. Projects may include planning and feasibility studies, as well as individual purchases.
Projects should have measurable outcomes in at least one or more of the following four areas:
- The project will increase knowledge.
- The project will increase employment.
- The project will increase attendance and/or income.
- The project will increase local participation.
Applicants must identify all collaborative partners and supply evidence of support and level of participation in the project. A letter of commitment from each partner must be attached to the grant application.
Successful applicants will sign a contract with terms to be negotiated. The contract will identify the project goals, including all products and other specific conditions. All contracts require compliance with state fiscal and reporting standards. Grant applications will be required to report outcome measures.
All applications will be reviewed and assessed with a composite score totaling 100 percent. Scores will be based upon the following criteria:
- Partnerships- 25 %
- History- 10 %
- Goals and Expected Results- 25%
- Staff and Volunteers- 5%
- Plan of Work- 25%
- Budget- 10%
