| Archaeology Grants - These grants assist nonprofit volunteer organizations that are primarily focused on Utah's archaeological resources. Contact Ron Rood at (801) 533-3564. |
Certified Local Government (CLG) Grants - A city, town, or county government can qualify to participate in the federal Historic Preservation program by becoming a Certified Local Government. CLGs are then eligible to receive federal funds as grants passed through State History. These grants may be used for projects related to historic preservation, including surveys of historic buildings or sites and "brick-and-mortar" activities. Contact Barbara Murphy at (801) 533-3563. | Oral History Grants - The Utah Humanities Council and the Utah Division of State History have joined together to offer grants for oral history research and transcription projects. See previous Oral History grants awarded |
Utah Cultural Heritage Tourism Grants These grants are intended to further cultural heritage tourism development in Utah. Heritage and cultural tourism is defined as travel directed toward experiencing the heritage and culture of a neighborhood, city, region, state or country. Grants are available to nonprofit organizations including: state/national heritage areas, counties, cities, towns, townships, recognized districts, cultural organizations, designated byways and corridors. |
The Utah Cemetery Inventory Project - Local cemeteries may apply for grant funds to convert sexton records to electronic databases and geographic information systems. These systems help them manage their cemeteries. They send the data they gather to the Utah State Historical Society for inclusion in our database. Contact Doug Misner at (801) 533-3535 Matching grants are available to help cemeteries and other local groups create a computerized database and map of their cemetery and burials. The grants require a 50/50 match (soft or hard match) and are limited to a maximum of $5,000 per cemetery. |
