Background

Background Note

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a New Deal program, operated from 1933 until 1942. The CCC provided jobs and training to young men (primarily between the ages of 18 and 25) and made improvements on public land. There were 116 CCC camps established in Utah. A camp usually consisted of about 200 men. CCC projects ranged from constructing campgrounds to erosion control structures. The CCC also fought forest fires, planted trees, and numerous other activities
