The Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW) began as a narrow gauge line running south from Denver in 1870. By the 1880s the railroad extended into Utah and served mainly as a transcontinental bridge line between Denver and Salt Lake City. The D&RGW transported coal, minerals, and persons.

Scope and Content

The payroll ledgers have been arranged alphabetically by office, then chronologically. The ledgers include names of employees, pay scales, and attendance for the Agents Office, Baggage, Freight Office, Salt Lake Office, Transfer Gang, Warehouse, and Yard Office.
