		  <p>Joseph Edward Taylor was born 12 September 1882 in Salt Lake City to
			 Fanny Mulholland and Edward Theodore Taylor. He graduated from Utah State
			 Agricultural College in 1905, and rose to prominence within the business
			 community in Utah. Taylor was one of the founders of the 
		  <title render="italic">Deseret Farmer</title> and became its business
		  manager. He was general manager of the Mutual Coal Co., executive secretary of
		  the Utah Retail Coal Dealers Association, and developed the Mt. Olympus Spring
		  Water Co. in Salt Lake City. From 1909-1917, Taylor served as Utah State
		  Horticulturist. He received an award from President Herbert Hoover for his work
		  with the United States Food Administration during World War I.</p> 
		  <p>Taylor married Leuninna Knudsen (1887-1981) in 1909. Together they
			 raised three children.</p>
