Summary Description Utah State Historical Society Mss C 1507 Susan Whetstone Susan Whetstone Olympic Photograph Collection, 2002 2 folders (1 envelope) This collection of photographs was taken by Susan Whetstone, Utah State Historical Society photograph curator, during events attended during the Winter Olympic Games, February 2002. Susan volunteered at the Utah Media Center, the "unofficial media center" for non-accredited media. The building was located by the Post Office building on Second South between Second and Third West. There is a series of photographs taken at Soldier Hollow of the women's 26K cross country race. This was an interesting event because the Gold Medal winner, Lazutina, was disqualified for use of illegal substances. The Media Center was sponsored by the Utah Department of Community and Economic Development and held press conferences in conjunction with the main media center at the Salt Palace.
