The Kearns Mansion (located at 603 East South Temple, Salt
Lake City) was constructed in 1901 by Thomas and Jennie Kearns. The family
lived in the mansion until 1937 when it was transferred to the State of Utah to
be used as a Governor's Mansion. It served as the Governor's Mansion until 1957
when it was turned over to the Utah State Historical Society. It was used by
the Historical Society until 1977 when it was once more, after renovation, used
as a Governor's Mansion. The Mansion was gutted by fire on 15 December 1993 and
was renovated again after the fire. The collection contains photographs, slides
and negatives showing the restoration of the mansion after the 1993 fire.
