		  <p> Alvin Charles Emerson (1859-1926) was a son of Judge Philip H.
			 Emerson, who was active in the Liberal Party. Alvin was born in Vermont, but
			 moved to Utah in 1880 and worked as a clerk in the 1st District Court. He
			 married Mary Martindale in 1882. </p> 
		  <p>During the 1890s, Emerson ran the Acme Printing Company, which did
			 job printing but also dealt in textbooks for Ogden schools, and was a member of
			 the Ogden School Board. From 1900-1916 he was chief clerk for the Southern
			 Pacific Railroad in Ogden. After that time, he was in the insurance business.
