Public Archaeology

pictographs The people who lived in Utah for centuries before European settlers came were like us in many ways.

They worked, loved, suffered, quarreled, enjoyed sunsets and a cool drink of water, raised kids and animals.

Clues to their lives lie in spectacular ruins—and also in sites that to the untrained eye just look like dirt and rocks. Archaeology is about finding the clues and making sense of them.
