Archaeological Compliance
The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) in the Utah Division of State History provides guidance in the protection of cultural resources as directed by federal and state law. Each month, SHPO reviews some 200 development projects and
their potential effects on archaeological and historical sites. SHPO comments on these cases and provides accurate data
and professional consultation. The links provided here will guide you to further explanation of the federal and state laws
that protect Utah's cultural heritage.
Please contact Matthew Seddon for questions and information about archaeological regulation.
